Dear Editor:
Our community is lucky enough to have a wonderful school system with a breadth of offerings, but one of the most appreciated aspects of this (and one that many may not even be aware of) is the shared use of the facilities at the schools with the Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department.
As a member of the HK Masters swim team, I am among the scores of area residents who use the pool on a regular basis. I wanted to take a moment to thank Michael Distefano, the director of facilities for the school district, and his team for the tremendous job they do on behalf of not only the students, but the community at large. One query about an issue with the showers in the locker room, and they were on top of it and addressed it within two days. With all the work they do year-round to maintain the schools, I can’t tell you how much their taking the time to address this meant.
Their efforts benefit us all and are greatly appreciated.
