Historic 18th Century Haddam Bed & Breakfast Open to Public

August 11, 2018 Haddam, CT. On Saturday, August 11th from 11:00am to 2:00pm, the public will have a rare opportunity to visit and tour the Nehemiah Brainerd House Bed & Breakfast which is currently for sale.
Built for the prominent Brainerd family around 1765, this house was later moved back from the road and added on to by best-selling novelist Katharine Brush, in 1932. The house’s current owners performed an extensive restoration of the house and cottage starting in 2002. It was even featured on HGTV’s “If Walls Could Talk” in 2006. “This house is not only beautiful and wonderfully restored,” said Jane Montanaro of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, “but was also home to very significant people in local and national history.”

The Trust, a non-profit whose mission in part is to promote the value of preserving historic places, is co-sponsoring the event as part of its “Open House Talks” held around the state in partnership with local realtors. Talks on the history and recent restoration of the house will be given at 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30. The event is co-sponsored by William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Realtor, Allison Gentile-Pollack.
The Nehemiah Brainerd House is located at 988 Saybrook Road in Haddam. Parking is available at the site. To help the Trust prepare for the event, attendees are requested to RSVP by visiting www.cttrust.org or calling 203-562-6312.
